At Gardens Animal Hospital we offer K-Laser Therapy as well as Acupuncture.

What is K-Laser?

Class IV K-Lasers deliver specific red and near-infrared wavelengths of laser light to induce a therapeutic effect within the body. These include increased circulation, decreased swelling, reduction of pain and enhanced tissue repair. Laser therapy has been used in Europe since the 1970’s and was cleared by the United States Food and Drug Administration in 2002. K-Laser has become the preferred choice for thousands of practitioners worldwide.

How does it work?

The painless application of laser energy promotes increased circulation by drawing oxygen and nutrients to the affected area. This creates an optimal healing environment reducing inflammation, swelling, muscle spasm, stiffness and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, pain is relieved and function is restored.

Numerous Studies show that Laser Therapy can help with:

·         Lameness
·         Anal Gland Abcess
·         Ear Infections
·         Hot Spots
·         Post Surgical Recovery
·         Back Pain
·         Hip Dysplasia
·         Burns/Wound
·         Swelling

What is acupuncture? How does it work?

Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points on the body via the insertion and manipulation of very small, sterile needles. These points typically correspond to areas close to nerves or blood vessels, where nerve bundles penetrate fascia, or motor points in muscle, and are areas where we can induce neuromodulation and cause physiological changes within the body.

Effects of acupuncture:

  • Blocks pain
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Relaxes muscles and fascia
  • Improves function of nerves
  • Enhances the immune system
  • Restores homeostasis
