Spay & Neuter

Sterilizing your pet is an important way of maintaining a healthy pet population and preventing unwanted litters. Our spaying and neutering surgeries are often performed on new pets, or puppies and kittens before their reproductive organs have matured. However, the ideal time to spay or neuter your pet also depends on their specific breed, and spaying or neutering your pet can be performed well into adulthood. Our surgical team will guide you on the best approach for your pet when discussing this specific surgery.

There is a wide range of orthopedic surgeries for pets that treat soft tissue problems ranging from torn ligaments to displaced joints. Through our on-site diagnostic testing, like x-rays and ultrasound, our  board-certified veterinary surgeons can pinpoint the source of your dog or cat’s orthopedic problem and recommend the exact surgery needed to correct the issue.

At Gardens Animal Hospital, we offer a range of internal surgeries for your cat or dog. Some of the most common include fixing an intestinal obstruction through a foreign body removal, removing bladder stones, or removing cancerous or benign tumors. For surgeries that require immediate testing, we also perform extensive diagnostics on soft tissue and mass removals on-site to determine if they pose any future threat to your pet.

Dogs and cats have the propensity to suffer from broken bones and dislocated joints more often than their pet parents because of their active lifestyles, willingness to take risks, and more fragile musculoskeletal structure. At Gardens Animal Hospital, we have all the diagnostic tools, equipment, and therapies to return your pet to complete health after a fracture, bone break, or dislocated joint.

Dogs and cats can suffer from a host of neurological issues that necessitate surgery, from a traumatic injury to something inborn like a blood clot or epilepsy. Our board-certified veterinary surgeons specialize in all forms of pet neurosurgery with the help of our decorated visiting surgeon, Dr. Sarah Evans. We specialize in, but are not limited to, anterior cervical discectomy, epilepsy neurosurgery, Chiari decompression, craniotomy, lumbar puncture, and laminectomy.

Removing an appendage from your pet can be overwhelming, but with advanced techniques and our surgical specialists at Gardens Animal Hospital, we know the best ways to perform a dog or cat amputation that also gives them the most extensive range of movement and motion post-operatively so they can live a healthy, full life after pet amputation.
Discovering your family pet has cancer is difficult, but with advancements in cancer care, like life-saving surgery or life-extending therapeutic treatments, we’re able to give your pet longer, more valuable years after a pet Cancer diagnosis with our state-of-the-art oncological therapies, diagnostic tools, and cancer removal options.

In addition to the surgeries listed above, Gardens Animal Hospital also performs wound-care surgeries, laceration surgeries, cyst removal, biopsies, certain organ removal, endoscopies and gastrointestinal surgeries, just to name a few.

Our Team Of Pet Anesthesiologists

Every pet surgery is overseen by our board-certified anesthesiologist. As a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) themselves, each of our veterinary anesthesiologists supports the surgeon during your pet’s surgical procedure, so your dog or cat receives the very best care throughout their entire surgical experience. Our veterinary anesthesiologists are there to comfort your pet, ensure their surgery is pain-free, and monitor them before, during, and after surgery to optimize their surgical experience, which begins with a full physical exam and blood work panel.

Our Palm Beach Gardens veterinary anesthesiologist also supports our dental team when performing dental work like cleanings, extractions, or procedures addressing advanced dental disease. Light sedation may also be recommended if your pet requires an x-ray, ultrasound, or other diagnostic tests.

Frequently Asked

Questions

Will my pet stay overnight after surgery?
Most pet surgeries do not require an overnight stay, but often necessitate a period of monitoring after surgery has ended. In some surgical cases, we do recommend that your dog or cat remain at Gardens Animal Hospital overnight for observation. Because of our on-site cat hotel and dog hotel kennels, every post-surgical pet enjoys a luxury experience where they are monitored and cared for just like they would be at home.

The cost of each of our surgical procedures is determined during your pet’s preliminary diagnostic visit. The cost of pet surgery can vary greatly based upon the surgery your pet needs, how much sedation they require, their unique physiology, breed and age, and is also based upon current surgical expenses as well as the presence of pet insurance. However, at Gardens Animal Hospital, we are uniquely able to offer less expensive surgical options being a family-owned, non-corporate veterinary hospital. Our pricing is transparent, and we offer a variety of pricing plans. We understand that the health of your pet is paramount, so our policy is to give every pet parent a range of options from surgical to non-surgical so you can make the most informed decision for your pet, and for your family.

Yes! All of our pet surgeries are performed on-site at our Palm Beach Gardens, Florida location in our sterilized, state-of-the-art pet surgical suite. For emergency surgery, or for urgent cases during non-operating hours, we will refer your pet to an emergency surgical center nearby.
